101 Blues Riffs
£4.99–£9.99
About this harmonica course
These play along harmonica lessons teach blues harp players 101 fantastic blues riffs for the diatonic harmonica in C. These classic riffs are taken from or inspired by a variety of wonderful players, then simplified a little and played for you at three different speeds for you to practise. Ben explains more in our video:
You can learn these riffs for your solo and backing playing. We strongly advise you to practise every day, and with time, persistence and you developing a good ear (!) you’ll be able to really use, modify and take ownership of the riffs.
All our harmonica lessons can be downloaded as audio and PDF packs, stand alone PDFs, or ordered as CD and book.
Use the players below to preview individual tracks and watch Ben demonstrate some extracts from the course.

Compiled by Ben…
Dear Ben and Paul
I’ve just purchased your excellent book “101 Blues Riffs” from Amazon. It’s very well presented and proving to be just what I need to improve my skills.
Hello Sir! I adore your playing and your harmonica testing videos on youtube. Helped me a lot. Thank you Ben!
Big Smile!
Have just ordered and received Blues Riffs Vol 6.from Amazon Have been learning slowly for a couple of months and have been thoroughly enjoying the experience. Am amazed just how often the harmonica crops up in all styles of music – blues to Bob Marley and most things in between!
Thank you for a great book/ CD.
Best wishes
Graham Wells

Hi ben I have a question for you about going to buy the book and cd for 101 blues riffs and it says that it is 14.99 and it also says that you get a 10% discount on the product and when I went to the buy product page it said discount code and I was wondering were you find this before I buy the product because I would rather pay 13.49 or whatever the discount comes to rather than 14.99. I hope you can tell me the answer to this question ASAP at my email or on this review page because infant to buy the product ASAP thank you in advance Scott.
Ben Hewlett – :
Hi Scott, the discount is ‘earned’ with the first order and can be redeemed on a subsequent order if that makes sense.
Scott – :
hi thank you for the information about the discount. anyway i have not used the book yet but the delivery was so fast and thanks for the massive discount for the video lessons two. i am just starting out thats why i got the 101 blues riffs because most beginners books just tell you to breath in and out. also the book has tones of tunes. any way i was wondering about the bending usage you mentioned in the video how much will you need for the sonny terry riffs fro example because i can do 1 2 3 4 two steps 5 and 6 that just an enquiery but over all i will do another review when i start using it but so far great
Scott – :
Hi ben there is one riff I realy want to play of sonny terry but I can’t see which number it is in the book and cd if you could tell me it would be great. IT was when you said here’s one you played it then you said it was a percusive style.
you could great.and what bends do you need for the riffs?

Because I was thinking of doing those online udemy lessons but this has made me think if it is a good Idea if I cant get a reply from an email without signing up to SPAM. i have a question when pliayng a bass chord is it the same 3 notes you would use on a guitar (i know how to play guitar but learning chords is sligtly harder on a bass)so if i use the same notes in each chords can i use to my advantage (using same notes in a different position) or do i change my notesive been pliayng 4 5 years so i know my way around the bass quite easily

Wow, these are great! I’ve learned so much just playing the riffs over and over. It’s made an improvement in my technique and articulation. Plus, it’s by stringing the riffs together it’s allowed me to increase my musical expression. I’m sure glad I found your material. And thanks for including Deford Bailey, I’m a native Nashvillian and its good to hear someone still remembers this Grand Ole Opry member. I look forward to see what else ya’ll publish. BTW, do you plan on creating material for other genres? Country, Jazz, Pop styles would be useful too.
